Data to consider
The origin of Larimar is full of mystery surrounding its discovery. The island of the Dominican Republic, formerly called La Hispaniola, was formed through volcanic eruptions approximately 100 million years ago.
Thus a mountain is formed in the Sierra de Bahoruco, giving rise to the emergence of Larimar. All this together with unusual elements in nature, favor the necessary conditions for the "Blue Stone".
The National Congress declared November 22 of each year as "National Larimar Day", through Law No. 17-18, being that day in 1916, when the priest Miguel Domingo Fuertes discovered the stone in Barahona.
